FAQ 191: 401a4--APR factors appear to be 1 year off

Problem:

It appears that the APR being pulled into my 401(a)(4) test is off by one year. I have my retirement age set as 60, but the rate being returned for my test is for age 61. Am I missing something on the setup? I believe the APR should be 105.89, ASC is returning 103.888.

Solution:

Check the mortality tables that you are using in the comparison of rates. UP-84 and UP-84 M would show a 1 year difference in the APR. Our support page is recognizing a retirement age of 60.
