FAQ 168: Error 457-Cannot create new transaction...entry already exists importing

Problem:

Error=457: Msg=EE AccessNew Error: Cannot create new Transaction by date: Cannot create new Transaction: Cannot create new record: Entry already exists.

This error is received when attempting to import a contribution file. Please contact me to fix this error.



Solution:

Try resetting the transaction pointers and try it again. Sometimes the "pointer" that tells the system what the next available transaction number/key is gets out of whack and needs to be reset. To reset the pointers, choose Utilities-Transactions-Reset C(14) Pointer and click "OK" to reset the pointers on all employees. Then you should be able to import or manually input new transactions for the employee.
