FAQ 476: Contributions--Rollover amount is too large for the Contribution field

Problem: I'm trying to enter a participant's rollover amount and it exceeds the maximum field length. The amount of the rollover is 1,753,088.41. When it would not let me enter it directly I entered it as a transaction, but I got an error when I tried to process the transaction (X71 value exceeds format). I even tried to enter two separate transactions, but I got the same error when I tried to process the second of the two.

Solution: Rollovers should be entered as "Transfers In" rather than Contributions for two reasons: 1) To exclude them from the 415 test and 404 report. 2) The Contribution size limit is 99,999.99, as the current individual 415 limit is less than half that amount.
