| FAQ 71: Grid - Any way to go directly to a file from the grid? |
I have a quick question for you. We created a grid for census information and copy this information to the Windows clipboard. Then we go into Excel and copy it back from the clipboard.
Is there a way for us to copy this information directly to a .TXT file? Currently we have to copy from the clipboard to Excel and Save As a TXT file. We would like to eliminate one of these steps if possible.
If you can work with a tab-delimited TXT file, just choose View-Grid-Export to File when viewing your grid. That will create a tab-delimited file that can be opened in Excel, or cleaned up slightly (i.e. by removing the column headings) and imported into another piece of software.
