FAQ 172: Vesting--Not advancing for specific employees

Problem: I have a plan where I can't get the vesting to advance for five individuals. I have entered history for all of them, and last year's vesting was correct, so I am not sure why the vesting won't advance for these individuals this year.

Solution: Since the majority of plans track hours for vesting purposes on a plan year basis, you need to change the Starting Date fields on the Vesting and Top Heavy Vesting screens in the specs to "2-Plan Year", rather than "1-Hire". Once you do that, the vesting should increment properly.
