FAQ 541: Terminated employees--What will ASC use for terminated employees with no hours coded

Problem:

I have a large number of employees in a plan that the client did not provide us with hours worked in the plan year. They are salaried employees for which their payroll system does not track hours. The remainder of the census information for the non-salaried employees contains hours.

My question is, if I load up those employees showing with zero hours, will ASC calculate hours less than 1,000 for terminated employees?

Solution:

The system will use dates to prorate hours on terminees if you select the "3-Use Days" option in the Calculate Status Codes for Term'd field on the Group Definition (GROUPDEF) screen in general plan specs. If you have no hours coded for an eligible employee without a date of termination, the system assumes 2080 hours worked during the year.
