FAQ 798: Contributions--Last day or 500 hours rule

Problem: I have a plan with an accrual service requirement of last day or 500 hours. The participants that are still employed but did not reach 500 hours should still be eligible to receive the match contribution. How do I accomodate that on ASC? I have the Contrib: Groups Elig field coded as "34678" and Hours as "500", but it is not allowing the employees with less than 500 hours but are still employed to get the match.

Solution: We recommend you use the following coding, which should exclude the "N" status code and it should accomplish exactly what you want: Contrib: Groups Elig. = "3467" Hours = "1" hour
