FAQ 858: Coding unreduced Early Retirement at 55 with NRA 62

Problem:

I'm looking for a way to change the NRA from 55 to 62, but still fund the benefit at 55. The alternate retirement age spec was doing what I wanted, but I wasn't using it for its intended purpose.

Solution:

Our current recommendation is to change the NRA/NRD definition on the General \ Identification \ RETIRE screen to match the definition in the plan document (62, 62 & 5, etc.), input the prior normal retirement provision (55, 55 & 5, etc.) in the Early Retirement fields on the General \ Identification \ ANCILELG screen, change the General \ Benefits \ OTHERBEN \ Early Retirement Benefit to "2 - No Reduction", and change the Funding \ FUNDMETH \ Assumed RA field to "Early." Be sure to change everyone's (except postponed retirees) status code to ā€œCā€ so that their Retirement dates will be recalculated.
