FAQ 2198: Importer Menu window stays open - possible err. 282

Problem:

I'm not sure if this is a new issue, but we are seeing that the Importer window does not close when we close out of a plan. Then when we open a new plan and click on the Importer icon it is not running the back up. When we close a plan, are the individual windows (Employees, Plan Specs, Importer) supposed to close?

We would have to completely close out of ASC each time before we start on a new plan so all the windows close. Then when we click the Importer icon, it will run the backup. Please advise if this is how these windows are supposed to work?



Solution:

Is it possible the Importer icon was double clicked vs. single clicked? The Importer probably had an error 282 and opened twice or tried to open twice. Sometimes we don't even see this or we ignore it and move on. Then while it allowed the user to operate, it was disconnected from the opened plan all along. When this happens with any menu, it requires that the windows be closed and ASC is restarted to have a good clean session.
It also helps for Importer if using the icon to invoke to hover and "see" the words invoke Importer, then click once, and wait because it is opening and running the backup, you should see it open momentarily but not instantly.
