FAQ 348: Grid--copying from one column to another in the grid

Problem: Using the Employee Grid, is there an easy and quick way to copy the values in one column to another column? For example, if I want to copy the deferrals in the Prior Deferrals field to the Value field, can I just highlight the Prior Deferrals field and copy/paste to the Value field? I couldn't find any copy/paste option.

Solution: Open up the grid with both values in it. Select View-Grid-Set Column Data. Select the field that you are copying *to* under the update section. Under "From", select "Data File" and then click on the magnifying glass. This will bring up the employee record screens and fields - select the field that you are copying *from* here. Click "OK" and "Yes" and the field will be copied over.
