FAQ 80: Error 123 copying a report from the A9.RMS file

Problem:

I am trying to copy the PLANSPEC report, DEPSUM report and INFO5500 report from the A9.RMS file in the \ASC\REPORTS directory to my file in the \ASC\USER directory. When I follow the instructions below I get this message: Error=123:Msg=Cannot importReport File:Input report #3 would replace current report #5.

In the \ASC\REPORTS directory, the PLANSPEC report number is 0003. In the \ASC\USER directory, the PLANSPEC report number is 0005.

What am I doing wrong?

Solution:

You are getting that error message because you are trying to copy over an existing report in your file, which is not possible. If you want to replace an existing report, rather than adding a new report to that file (by placing the next available report number in the "to Report" box), you need to first delete the report that you wish to replace. So, for example, if you want to replace the PLANSPEC report in your file with the PLANSPEC report from the A9.RMS file, you would first have to open the PLANSPEC report in your file, and then choose File-Delete Report to get rid of that report. If you were to then choose File-Open Report and look at the report numbers, it should then free up a report number (in this case, report #5). Then if you choose File-Copy Report, you can choose the A9.RMS file in the \ASC\REPORTS directory, put report #3 in both of the "From Reports" boxes, and put report #5 in the "to Report" box. That should then copy report #3 from the A9.RMS file in the \ASC\REPORTS directory to report #5 in your file, effectively replacing the one that is/was there.
