FAQ 108: 5500/5500SF --Amended 5500 forms prior to 2009/ DFVC filings in DGEM

Problem:

We have a client that we need to filed amended returns for 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. Given the new EFAST2 requirements that all of these filings must be submitted using the EFAST system, how am I to create these filings using the current form year for multiple years without constantly overwriting the current 5500/5500-SF file? In other words, how do I get around the system's protocol for saving only one filing per client per year?


Solution:

To create an additional form - please do the following:
1) Use "New 5500 Form" to create a new 5500

2) On the Form 5500 checklist - you must also enter the fiscal plan year dates for each plan in order to enter the Begin and End dates for the amended year. These dates will indicate to the system that it is an old filing and that information will be transmitted to the DOL.
3) Please check the Amended box option so the electronic filing is for an amended return. For DFVC filings, check the DFVC box on the checklist.
4) You should use the Form Identifier field on the 5500/5500-SF checklist for entering in the plan year - i.e. "2007". Users can tell the filings under the FIND screen.
