FAQ 123: EFAST2 - Filing_Unprocessable: Attachments not in the proper format

Problem: We had filings that are receiving the status of "filing unprocessable". Why are we getting this status?

Solution: The problem could be the attachment has a security password; the attachment was scanned upside down or not right-side up; or the attachment was not saved in a PDF Format 1.4 or higher. In Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader the PDF version of a document can be found by selecting Properties on the File menu. The DOL has decided that all PDF attachments submitted with a 5500/5500SF filing must be compliant with the ISO 32000-1:2008 standard. If an attachment is in PDF Format 1.3 or lower, it must be converted to a higher format before it is uploaded to the filing. In Adobe, the PDF version of a document can be changed by selecting PDF Optimizer Advanced menu
