FAQ 142: 5500 - Creating duplicate Form 5500-EZ in DGEM

Problem:

We heard that the IRS will accept the prior year's Form 5500-EZ until the new Form 5500-EZ is released. How can I create a duplicate form in DGEM?

Solution:

You can create additional 5500-EZ forms in DGEM by selecting "New 5500 Form" under the Manage Plan Document - Create New Document section and then choose the "5500EZ" form and the available form year. When the 5500-EZ form is created, you will use a different plan number (i.e. 010) than the actual plan number. This way, it will be displayed separately in your document list and so that you can distinguish the prior year's form from the current year's form. The fiscal year end date range should match the current filing period. You should then edit the plan number to the plan's correct plan number in the checklist so it will print the correct plan number on the report.

You can also enter the year, i.e."2010" under the Form Identifier field so users can filter those 5500-EZ forms for that plan year under the FIND screen.
